What do you mean by the terms top/bottom/switch?

On the dating app Her you can list your kink role and your sexual preference role. I see people putting top/bottom/switch. I feel like I have a good idea of what that means in kink but not so much in terms of sexual role. How do you use those terms? Thanks.
