Sourdough discard dog treats

Ingredients are approximate:

300 g discard (or whatever you want to use)

2 eggs

1/4 cup sunflower seeds (shelled)

1/4 cup cheese crackers (like goldfish crackers)

1/2 cup freeze dried liver treats

Whole wheat flour

Blend liver, crackers, and seeds into a powder (or close)

Mix eggs with discard, then mix in powdered ingredients

Mix in flour, a little at a time, until you can start working it like pasta ( I handed kneading). Continue adding flour and kneading until the dough is still and won’t pick up any more flour

Roll out to desired thickness on parchment (I do about 3-4 mm)

Cut to desired size and shape with pizza cutter, sharp knife, or cookie cutter

Bake at 350 until desired texture (20ish minutes for softer chew, longer to crisp up)

Store on the counter

I do smaller bits and keep them around the house for snap training treats, but have also made them into bigger dog bones. I also always keep the dust at the bottom of the bags of freeze dried liver treats and other dog treats to add in to these. I’ve never actually measured ingredients, so this is a pretty loose guideline. The super dry dough is the most important piece, as they need to be rolled out without sticking to the rolling pin. Sprinkle flour on the parchment and dough to assist

My dog goes crazy for these.
