How to play around Mage 8/8 T2?

Yesterday my guild was so kind to finally let me complete 8/8 T2 as a mage. I then proceeded to try it out in MC and was rather disappointed. With batching and the way the proc comes in after a cast it felt close to impossible to make a conscious decision which spell to use with the proc.

To those in the same position - how do you handle it? Is there a macro to automate the decision (I wouldn't expect one)? How do you optimize DPS around the proc?

Right now for Frost it doesn't really matter, but for Fire things will get a bit more complicated. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
